MISSION STATEMENT
KAAUM Enterprises is committed to providing person-centered services and support to adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The goal of these services is to promote independence, community involvement, and quality of life. Through individualized support, we work to provide opportunities for each person in services to become a self-directing and contributing member of their community.
OUR VALUES
KAAUM's principal values serve as the foundation of our organization's culture and guide how we measure the success of our services. We take pride in building a service environment that is welcoming to all, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexuality, or diagnosis.
Our team of dedicated program administrators and service providers work hard to tailor each program so that it may meet the needs of every person we serve. We strive to find innovative ways to deliver services, and to continue to grow and improve alongside the people we support.
KAAUM'S PHILOSOPHY
Our team is focused on providing individuals with (and educating them about) choices that impact their lives, primarily through community-integration and individualized support. These choices include the opportunity to:
- Build positive relationships, socialize, and engage in choice recreational activities with others.
- Develop their own methods for self-expression and utilize creative outlets to enhance their quality of life.
- Seek assistance with personal skills such as self-care, advocation, and safety skill in the home and community.
- Pursue new and innovative means of cognitive and sensory stimulation while working to reduce maladaptive behaviors.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
KAAUM’s commitment to helping our PRS engage in their community is not always simple or risk-free. We believe that each PRS can be their own self-advocate, but we also know that the community does not always respond to individuals with developmental disabilities with open arms. For this reason, KAAUM is committed to educating our community and promoting its growth in conjunction with our PRS to ensure that everyone feels welcome, accepted, and heard.
