YOUR Mission is OUR Mission

How we started...

Meet James and Rebecca Moore, founders of KAAUM Enterprises and loving parents of Benjamin. Ben is one of many children with a diagnosis who requires a more personalized, empathetic approach to his care. KAAUM's founding was fueled by a desire to create just that... a high-quality system of care, rooted in compassion and focused on the individual - first for Benjamin, then for others like him.

With over 30 years of combined experience at their disposal, James and Rebecca set off as independent providers, offering services from their own home. In 2016, changing regulations led them to establish KAAUM as a P.A.S.A., allowing them to expand their reach. From the very start, they pushed for every individual to be given a voice in shaping their own program, helping them reach for independence.

Where we're headed...

Today, KAAUM remains committed to the values we started with: empowering individuals, promoting self-advocacy, and building a truly individualized service experience. Our aim is to put the needs of those we serve FIRST by continuously improving our services and expanding the opportunities we offer for both those in services, as well as our own team members. In doing so, we strive to help each person maximize their potential and live a fulfilling, self-directed life.

As we continue to grow, our foundation remains the same. KAAUM wants to ensure every person in services receives the same quality of care and support that James and Rebecca want for Benjamin.

KAAUM's Core Values

Empowering People

Recognizing Potential

Promoting Advocacy

We believe that everybody should have a say in how they receive care. By providing a variety of choices at every step, we're able to build a system of personalized support and opportunities for growth that empower individuals to take action in shaping their lives.

Promoting Advocacy

Recognizing Potential

Promoting Advocacy

Self-advocacy is key to building confidence and reaching independence. We not only encourage but also support individuals in speaking up for their needs, making informed decisions, and standing up for their rights in all aspects of life.

Recognizing Potential

Everyone has unique strengths and abilities. Our goal is to create an environment where individuals can build healthy relationships, explore their unique interests, and develop new skills. Through both daily and long-term goal tracking, we push every person to reach their fullest potential.

Mission Statement

KAAUM Enterprises is committed to providing person-centered services and support to adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  The goal of these services is to promote independence, community involvement, and quality of life.  Through individualized support and the promotion of personal choices, we work to provide opportunities for each person in services to become a self-directing and contributing member of their community.

Philosophy in Action

Our team is focused on educating people in services about how they can impact their own lives. We prioritize personal choices through the use of strategic community-integration and behavior intervention techniques.  The positive effects of this "PRS Choice First" approach are many, including helping those we serve to:

  • Build relationships, socialize, and participate in meaningful activities that align with their interests.
  • Express themselves through creative outlets that enhance their well-being and quality of life.
  • Receive support with personal skills such as self-care, advocacy, and safety in the home and community.
  • Explore new methods of cognitive and sensory engagement while working toward reducing challenging behaviors.

Community Involvement

KAAUM’s commitment to helping those we serve engage with their community is not always simple or risk-free. We believe that each person in services can be their own self-advocate, but we also know that the community does not always respond with open arms. For this reason, KAAUM is committed to educating our community and promoting its growth in conjunction with those in our services to ensure that everyone feels welcome, accepted, and heard.

"There is no greater disability in society than the inability to see a person as MORE."

Robert M. Hensel
