  • Be at least 21 years of age upon date of hire.
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Maintain a reliable personal vehicle with appropriate insurance.
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check and C.A.P.S. registry check.
  • Demonstrate basic computer literacy and ability to use required software.
  • Be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Arrive on time and adhere to professional dress standards.
  • Support ALL individuals with kindness, courtesy, and compassion.

Positions & Duties

Below are some examples of the positions offered by KAAUM and their related duties. This list is not complete - position duties and their availability may vary.  Please contact us or view the application site for an updated list of position vacancies.

Program Coordinators (PCs) are responsible for overseeing the delivery of services, ensuring individuals receive high-quality care and support. They develop and implement individualized service plans, monitor compliance with state regulations, and provide training and guidance to direct care staff. Additionally, PCs act as a liaison between individuals, families, and external support teams to ensure person-centered services. Program Coordinator positions apply to both residential and community-based services (compensation varies).


Program Coordinator duties include:

  • Develop service plans in coordination with a support team.
  • Monitor program effectiveness, measure compliance, and implement improvements.
  • Conduct frequent home and/or community visits to assess service quality.
  • Maintain accurate and updated records for a client caseload.
  • Verify that service provider documentation meets state and agency standards
  • Perform basic clerical tasks including managing digital and physical files
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, trainings, and service staff development activities
  • Process and track incident reports, audits, and quality assurance documentation
  • Periodically serve on-call for urgent after-hours inquiries and client emergencies.


A Host Home Provider (HHP) welcomes an individual with I/DD into their home, offering a stable and supportive 'family-like' environment for them to live in. They provide assistance with daily living activities, medical care, and personal development while encouraging community participation. HHPs work closely with Program Coordinators and support teams to ensure the individual’s needs, preferences, and goals are met.


Host Home Provider duties include:

  • Provide daily structure and proper supervision in a home setting.
  • Assist with medical appointments, medication administration, and personal care.
  • Support participation in community and social activities.
  • Communicate regularly with case managers and support teams.
  • Maintain records of services and care provided.


PCA Providers assists individuals who live in their own homes by supporting their independence while ensuring their daily needs are met. They provide help with personal care, household management, and skill-building activities that enable individuals to maintain a self-sufficient lifestyle. PCA Providers also foster a safe and structured living environment while coordinating with Program Coordinators, support teams, and family members as needed.


PCA Provider duties include:

  • Monitor and support independent living tasks and personal goals.
  • Assist with household management, including cleaning and meal preparation.
  • Provide transportation for essential appointments and activities such as grocery shopping.
  • Respond to incidents and urgent needs, acting as an advocate for those they support.
  • Maintain documentation of progress, incidents, and service details.
  • Communicate any changes in needs or concerns to the support team.


Family Caregivers (FCGs) are family members who are paid through state-funded waivers to provide essential care and support to loved ones with I/DD, typically in their own home. They help maintain stability by providing services in a familiar environment. Like other residential care providers, FCGs assist with personal care, medical needs, and community involvement while fostering emotional and social well-being. Family Caregivers also coordinate with other service providers and receive support from Program Coordinators and case managers to ensure their loved one’s needs are met.


Family Caregiver duties include:

  • Ensure a safe and supportive home environment.
  • Assist with daily personal care and household responsibilities.
  • Advocate for the individual’s needs and coordinate with service providers.
  • Support participation in social and community activities.
  • Maintain records and communicate updates with the support team.


A Day Program Direct Support Provider (a.k.a., Direct Support Professional, Day Program Provider, Day Program DSP) supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by planning and facilitating engaging activities in the community, typically in a group setting of 3-5 individuals. They provide transportation to activities to ensure participants can access various outings that promote socialization, skill-building, and independence. DSPs create inclusive experiences that empower individuals to participate fully in their communities.


Day Program Provider duties include:

  • Plan, organize, and execute community-based activities for groups of individuals with I/DD.
  • Ensure scheduled activities are goal-oriented and promote independence and socialization.
  • Provide transportation to and from all outings, typically using a personal vehicle *.
  • Provide support with personal care, mobility assistance, and behavioral intervention.
  • Submit daily documentation noting participation, progress, and incidents.
  • Ensure a safe, engaging, and supportive environment during all activities.


*DSPs receive non-taxable mileage reimbursement to cover transportation costs.


House Staff (sometimes referred to as a Residential Direct Support Provider) provide around-the-clock support to individuals living in a staffed residential home, ensuring their daily needs are met in a structured and caring environment. They assist with personal care, household tasks, medical needs, behavioral intervention, and medication management while fostering independence and promoting personal growth. House Staff also facilitate social and recreational activities both in the home and out in the community to help individuals stay engaged and connected to their environment.


House Staff duties include:

  • Maintain household routines and ensure cleanliness and organization.
  • Administer medications and follow healthcare directives.
  • Assist individuals with goal-setting and personal development.
  • Encourage participation in social and recreational activities.
  • Respond to emergencies and behavioral concerns as needed.
