Program Coordinators (PCs) are responsible for overseeing the delivery of services, ensuring individuals receive high-quality care and support. They develop and implement individualized service plans, monitor compliance with state regulations, and provide training and guidance to direct care staff. Additionally, PCs act as a liaison between individuals, families, and external support teams to ensure person-centered services. Program Coordinator positions apply to both residential and community-based services (compensation varies).
Program Coordinator duties include:
A Host Home Provider (HHP) welcomes an individual with I/DD into their home, offering a stable and supportive 'family-like' environment for them to live in. They provide assistance with daily living activities, medical care, and personal development while encouraging community participation. HHPs work closely with Program Coordinators and support teams to ensure the individual’s needs, preferences, and goals are met.
Host Home Provider duties include:
PCA Providers assists individuals who live in their own homes by supporting their independence while ensuring their daily needs are met. They provide help with personal care, household management, and skill-building activities that enable individuals to maintain a self-sufficient lifestyle. PCA Providers also foster a safe and structured living environment while coordinating with Program Coordinators, support teams, and family members as needed.
PCA Provider duties include:
Family Caregivers (FCGs) are family members who are paid through state-funded waivers to provide essential care and support to loved ones with I/DD, typically in their own home. They help maintain stability by providing services in a familiar environment. Like other residential care providers, FCGs assist with personal care, medical needs, and community involvement while fostering emotional and social well-being. Family Caregivers also coordinate with other service providers and receive support from Program Coordinators and case managers to ensure their loved one’s needs are met.
Family Caregiver duties include:
A Day Program Direct Support Provider (a.k.a., Direct Support Professional, Day Program Provider, Day Program DSP) supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by planning and facilitating engaging activities in the community, typically in a group setting of 3-5 individuals. They provide transportation to activities to ensure participants can access various outings that promote socialization, skill-building, and independence. DSPs create inclusive experiences that empower individuals to participate fully in their communities.
Day Program Provider duties include:
*DSPs receive non-taxable mileage reimbursement to cover transportation costs.
House Staff (sometimes referred to as a Residential Direct Support Provider) provide around-the-clock support to individuals living in a staffed residential home, ensuring their daily needs are met in a structured and caring environment. They assist with personal care, household tasks, medical needs, behavioral intervention, and medication management while fostering independence and promoting personal growth. House Staff also facilitate social and recreational activities both in the home and out in the community to help individuals stay engaged and connected to their environment.
